LOVE PRECEDES US

Love does not follow creation; it precedes it. Before the first breath, before thought or form, Love already knew us. Before we ever learned to strive, to prove, or to become, we were already cherished. We are not accidents of matter, but intentional expressions of Love’s nature. We were not spoken into being to simply exist; we were breathed into being by Love itself.

Love preceded us. It is the first language written into our essence, older than words, deeper than reason. In a world obsessed with purpose and performance, it is easy to forget that before we were called to do, we were called to be. And our being, in its purest truth, is loved. We were not only created, but also loved.

We were not made to be loved; we were loved, and thus we were made. We were loved first, before we were ever created, and we are loved still. Love is not a reward for our being, but the reason for it. We are not the source of Love’s movement; we are its expression. Every breath, every heartbeat, every stirring of consciousness is a continuation of that first act of affection.

Existence, then, is not a condition for being loved; it is Love made visible. For in the end, all that exists was first imagined by Love. And all that endures is Love remembering its own reflection in us.

To be created in Love is to carry within us a divine echo, a resonance that calls us home whenever we drift into self-doubt or despair. That whisper, often drowned by the noise of fear or ambition, reminds us that our worth was never earned, it was bestowed. When we remember this, life regains its centre. We begin to live not as seekers of approval, but as bearers of a truth that cannot be undone: we belong to Love: Love taking form in us, seeing itself through us, and extending itself through our living.

This awareness transforms how we see the world and one another. If we are loved into being, then so is everyone else. Every face we meet is marked by the same original affection, even when it is hidden beneath pain or pride. To recognize this is to honour the sacredness in all creation, to see beyond what is broken and call forth what is beloved.

Creation reveals beauty; Love sustains it. Creation begins the story; Love fulfils it. Where Love is, life continues. Where Love departs, form becomes empty. For Love breathes life into what is formed. The universe itself is the canvas, but Love is the hand that painted the stars. Creation and love are two aspects of one divine movement and they work together to bring both existence and meaning into being. Our lives are living testaments that existence is not only divine in origin, but relational in nature.

To exist is not merely to survive, but to participate in Love’s endless unfolding. Each moment becomes an invitation to mirror the generosity that gave us life, to create, to forgive, to see, and to bless, as Love itself does. Love did not create us as spectators of its work, but as co-creators in its ever-expanding grace.

When we live from this knowing, fear loses its grip. We begin to rest, to create, to forgive, and to hope from a place of quiet assurance, not striving for love, but flowing from it. The deepest peace a soul can find is not in achievement or certainty, but in the still realization that we were not only created, we were also loved.

And so, when we forget, may we return to that still place within, where Love first whispered us into being, and know again that to exist is to be held, to be known, to be loved. To awaken to Love is to awaken to the meaning of our being, and to remember that every breath is grace remembering itself.
